Facial balancing in Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA
Facial balancing uses dermal filler in a few areas at once, most often the chin, jawline, cheeks and lips, so your features sit in proportion with each other. Cosmetiq Medicine plans and injects it at our Portland and Vancouver clinics, from $750 for one syringe to $2,250 for four.

What is facial balancing, and what does it change?
Facial balancing is a plan for several areas of the face treated together, usually with hyaluronic acid filler, so no single feature looks done. Your injector looks at how your chin relates to your nose, how your cheeks frame your eyes and how your lips fit your lower face, then adds small amounts where proportion is off.
- Chin and noseA soft chin can make the nose look larger in profile. Bringing the chin forward often balances both.
- Cheeks and eyesSupport on the cheekbone frames the eyes and can soften the look of the folds below.
- Lips and lower faceLip volume reads as natural when the chin and jaw are strong enough to carry it.

- Jawline and neckA clearer jaw angle separates the face from the neck, in profile and front-on.
- Temples and browHollow temples can make the upper face look narrow next to fuller cheeks.
- The whole faceSmall amounts in the right places, in an order that builds structure before detail.
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons describes the goal the same way: a face that looks more proportionate, not a different face. Because the term is used loosely online, ask any clinic which areas, products and how many syringes a plan includes.
How common is filler, and what does it cost nationally?
Filler is one of the most common cosmetic treatments in the US. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons counted 5,331,426 hyaluronic acid filler procedures in 2024, up 1% from 2023, plus 1,589,502 lip augmentations with filler. Its 2023 survey put the national average fee for a hyaluronic acid filler procedure at $715.
- $715US average fee per hyaluronic acid filler procedure, 2023
- $750One syringe at Cosmetiq Medicine, Portland and Vancouver
- +1%Hyaluronic acid filler procedures, 2023 to 2024
National fees are averages and do not include other costs. A balancing plan usually uses more than one syringe.
Which areas can facial balancing treat, and which filler is approved for each?
Most Portland and Vancouver balancing plans focus on the chin, jawline, cheeks and lips, with the temples, under-eyes or nose added when they change the overall picture. Each area has its own FDA approval status, so our plans show which product is approved for that area and which uses are off-label.

What can two, three or four syringes actually do?
It depends on your face, but plans tend to follow a pattern. Two syringes often treat one relationship, such as chin and lips for a better profile. Three usually add the jawline or cheeks. Four let your injector build structure across the mid and lower face. We suggest a starting amount and add more only after it settles.

Facial balancing before and after, from our patients
These are Cosmetiq Medicine patients photographed before treatment and after swelling settled. Each plan treated more than one area, which is what separates balancing from single-area filler. Look at the profile line and the lower face, where the change usually shows most.

Facial balancing, Botox, collagen stimulators or surgery?
Filler balancing changes shape and proportion, Botox relaxes the muscles behind movement lines, collagen stimulators rebuild volume gradually, and surgery changes bone, cartilage or skin position. Many plans combine the first three. We do not offer surgery, and we tell you when it would suit your goal better.

What happens at a facial balancing appointment, and does it hurt?
Your visit starts with a consultation, photos and a look at your face from the front and side. The Juvéderm XC gels and Radiesse (+) contain lidocaine, and we add numbing where it helps, so most people feel pressure and brief pinches. Expect some swelling and possible bruising, then a review once it settles.
- ConsultationYour goals, health history and any past filler, with photos from the front and in profile. The plan and total are agreed first.
- MappingWe mark the areas and plan structure, such as chin, jaw and cheeks, before lips.
- ComfortSkin is cleansed and numbing is applied where it helps.
- PlacementSmall amounts at a time, checking symmetry in the mirror with you as we go.
- Aftercare and reviewSwelling and bruising often settle within days to weeks. We review your result at about two weeks and add only if it is needed.
How risky is facial balancing?
Filler is a medical procedure. Common effects such as bruising, redness, swelling, tenderness and itching usually settle within days to weeks. The FDA calls accidental injection into a blood vessel the most serious risk. It is rare, but it can cause tissue damage, vision problems including blindness, or stroke, which is why anatomy and planning matter.
Common and expected
- Bruising and redness
- Swelling and tenderness
- Itching or a small rash
- Pain at the injection points
Most of these settle within days to weeks. Many people book at least two weeks before an important event.

Facial balancing questions, answered
What Portland and Vancouver clients ask most before booking a balancing plan.

01What is facial balancing?
Facial balancing is a treatment plan that uses dermal filler in several areas, often the chin, jawline, cheeks and lips, so your features look in proportion with each other. The aim is a face that looks more balanced and still like you, rather than a change to any one feature on its own.
02How much does facial balancing cost in Portland?
At Cosmetiq Medicine, facial balancing is $1,350 for two syringes, $1,975 for three, or $2,250 for four with our buy-three-get-one-free deal. One syringe is $750, and one syringe plus 20 units of Botox is $900. Your total is agreed before treatment at our Portland or Vancouver clinic.
03How many syringes do I need for facial balancing?
Most balancing plans use two to four syringes. Two often treat one relationship, such as chin and lips. Three or four can cover the cheeks, chin and jawline together. We suggest a starting amount at your consultation and add more only after the first result settles.
04How long does facial balancing last?
The FDA notes that hyaluronic acid fillers typically last about 6 to 12 months, and the time depends on the product and area. Many people plan a top-up when they notice the result softening.
05Does facial balancing wear off?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler is gradually absorbed by the body, so results fade over months rather than staying. That also means a plan can be adjusted over time. Radiesse lasts about 18 months and is not dissolvable, so we discuss product choice for each area.
06Does facial balancing hurt?
Most people feel pressure and brief pinches. The Juvéderm XC gels and Radiesse (+) contain lidocaine to help with comfort, and we apply numbing where it helps. The chin and jaw tend to feel easier than the lips, which are more sensitive.
07How risky is facial balancing?
Common effects are bruising, redness, swelling, tenderness and itching that usually settle within days to weeks. The FDA calls accidental injection into a blood vessel the most serious risk. It is rare, but it can cause tissue damage, vision problems or stroke. We keep hyaluronidase on site at both clinics.
08Can facial balancing be reversed?
Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, which we keep at both clinics. Using it this way is an off-label use of an FDA-approved drug. Dissolving is priced by area at $300, $350 or $400. Radiesse and Sculptra cannot be dissolved.
09Can men get facial balancing?
Yes. Men often ask for a stronger chin and a more defined jawline rather than added lip or cheek volume. Placement and product choice differ for a male face, and Radiesse (+) is the FDA-approved option along the jaw. We plan the areas at your consultation.
10Can filler balance my nose instead of rhinoplasty?
Filler can smooth the look of a bump or lift a tip, and chin filler can make the nose look smaller in profile. Filler in the nose is off-label, because no filler is FDA-approved for that area. It cannot make a nose narrower or fix breathing. See our liquid rhinoplasty page for details.
11Do you offer facial balancing in Vancouver, WA?
Yes. Facial balancing is offered at our Vancouver clinic at 12000 SE Mill Plain Blvd and at our Portland clinic at 10735 SE Stark St. Both clinics use the same menu, and you can book either location online or call (503) 572-2675.
12Can I combine facial balancing with Botox?
Yes, and it is a common pairing. Filler adds shape and structure, while Botox relaxes the muscles behind lines such as frown lines. Our Filler + Botox combo is one syringe plus 20 units of Botox for $900, and larger plans can add Botox at your visit.
