Potenza RF microneedling in Portland, Oregon for smoother, firmer-looking skin
Radiofrequency microneedling pairs fine needles with controlled heat below the surface, so your skin's own repair response does the work. We plan a short series around your skin, your calendar and the areas you care about, at our SE Stark Street clinic in Portland and at our Vancouver, WA clinic.
What is Potenza RF microneedling, and how does it work?
Potenza is a radiofrequency microneedling system. Fine needles open tiny channels in the skin, then release radiofrequency energy at a set depth, creating precise points of heat beneath the surface. Your skin responds by repairing and remodeling over the following weeks. We use it in Portland and Vancouver for texture, the look of scarring and firmness.
Standard microneedling works with needles alone. Adding heat lets your provider treat deeper layers while the surface stays largely intact, which is why it is planned and performed as a medical procedure, not a facial.
Two modes
Monopolar and bipolar radiofrequency, chosen for each area
Set depth
Needle depth adjusts by area, up to 4.0 mm on some tips
Small footprint
Each pulse treats a square about 1 cm across
Fresh tip
Tips are supplied sterile and single use, opened for you
Illustration only. Your provider sets depth and energy for each area.
What does FDA clearance mean for Potenza?
Potenza is FDA-cleared through the 510(k) process, not FDA-approved, and its cleared use is narrow: electrocoagulation and hemostasis in dermatologic and general surgical procedures. Using it to improve texture, firmness or the look of acne scars is an off-label use, a clinical decision your provider makes with you at consultation.
"The POTENZA is intended for use in dermatologic and general surgical procedures for electrocoagulation and hemostasis."
Potenza indication for use, FDA 510(k) K192545
What the clearance covers
Electrocoagulation and hemostasis in dermatologic and general surgical procedures
A prescription device, cleared as a Class II medical device
A 510(k) clearance is based on equivalence to devices already on the market, not on cosmetic results.
Common uses that are off-label
Skin texture, pores and fine lines
The look of acne scars and stretch marks
Firmer-looking skin on the face, neck and body
Applying a serum or other product during treatment
What this means for you. FDA's patient advice is to talk through benefits and risks first, choose a provider trained in RF microneedling, and ask which device they plan to use. We welcome all three questions: the device is Potenza, and we explain what is and isn't known before you book.
People in Portland most often choose Potenza for rough texture and enlarged-looking pores, the look of acne scars, fine lines, and crepey skin on the neck and décolleté. It can also be planned for body areas such as the abdomen. Each of these is an off-label use, and suitability is assessed at your consultation.
Texture and pores
Skin that feels rough or looks uneven, and pores that look larger than you would like.
The look of acne scars
Rolling and boxcar-type scarring, usually planned as a series. Deeper scarring often needs more than three visits.
Fine lines and crepey skin
Around the eyes, cheeks, neck and décolleté, where thin skin shows change first.
Body areas
The abdomen and other areas the size of about two hands, often for the look of stretch marks or loose-looking skin.
All cosmetic uses of Potenza are off-label. Not a fat-reduction treatment.
Potenza, microneedling, XERF or laser: which fits your goal?
Potenza adds radiofrequency heat beneath the surface, so it is often chosen for scarring and deeper texture. Standard microneedling uses needles alone and suits a first series for texture and glow. XERF tightens with radiofrequency and no needles, and laser resurfacing treats the surface itself; both are offered at our Vancouver, WA clinic, serving Portland clients.

Who is Potenza for, and who should wait?
Potenza often suits adults who want gradual improvement in texture, scarring or firmness and can plan a series with sun protection between visits. It may not be right if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection or cold sore, a bleeding disorder, keloid scarring, or have taken isotretinoin in the past six months.
Often a good fit
Texture, pores or acne scarring you want to soften gradually
Early crepiness on the face, neck or décolleté
Time for a series and for sun protection afterward
Realistic goals and interest in maintenance
Wanting a step between surface treatments and surgery
Talk with us first, or wait
Pregnancy or breastfeeding
Active infection, rash, cold sore or acne flare in the area
Bleeding or clotting disorders, or blood thinners
Isotretinoin in the past six months
Keloid scarring, eczema, psoriasis or vitiligo
A tan, or sun plans in the two weeks after
Allergy to stainless steel or numbing medicines
Is Potenza suitable for darker skin tones?
It is often considered for a wide range of skin tones because the energy is delivered below the surface. Pigment changes can still happen, and FDA notes darker skin types carry a risk of darkening or lightening after microneedling. We screen carefully, set energy conservatively and may suggest a test area first.
What happens at a Potenza appointment in Portland?
Plan on one to two hours. We review your skin, history and medicines, apply numbing cream for about 30 to 45 minutes, cleanse, then treat each area with a fresh sterile tip, adjusting depth and energy as we go. You leave with written aftercare and a plan for your next visit in about four to six weeks.
01
Consult and skin check
Your goals, skin history, medicines and any cold sore history, plus which device and settings we plan to use.
02
Numbing and prep
Topical numbing for about 30 to 45 minutes, then cleansing. Most people feel warmth and pressure during treatment.
03
Treatment
Passes across each area with a new sterile tip, with depth and energy matched to your skin and goals.
04
Aftercare and follow-up
Gentle skin care, sunscreen and a pause on active products as directed, then your next visit in the series.
What does recovery look like, and when do results show?
Expect redness, warmth and mild swelling at first, sometimes with small grid marks, dryness or light peeling. FDA notes these common effects typically settle without treatment within days or weeks. Change builds gradually: the device maker reports first results at four to six weeks and fuller results around twelve weeks after a series.

Real patient results
Individual results vary. Improvement may be temporary, more than one session is often needed, and maintenance helps keep what you gain.
What do Potenza before and after photos really show?
These photos show the neck after one Potenza treatment and the abdomen after two. Both are cosmetic uses that fall outside Potenza's FDA clearance. Results differ from person to person, so your provider looks at your skin, history and goals and sets realistic expectations at your consultation.
Neck, before and after one treatmentCrepey-looking skin on the neck. A cosmetic use, off-label for the device.
Abdomen, before and after two treatmentsLoose-looking skin on the abdomen. A cosmetic use, off-label for the device.
Radiofrequency rewards patience. We would rather build change over a series at settings matched to your skin than chase a fast result with more heat. That approach is also how we keep risk low.

What are the risks of RF microneedling?
Most effects are temporary: redness, swelling, bruising, dryness, peeling and tightness. Less often, pigment changes, cold sore flares or infection occur. In October 2025, FDA reported rare serious complications with RF microneedling used for wrinkles or tightening, including burns, scarring, fat loss, disfigurement and nerve damage, so careful screening and settings matter.
Dark or light spots, visible lines, a cold sore flare, swollen lymph nodes, signs of infection, or stinging when products go on.
Rare but serious
What FDA has reported
Burns, scarring, fat loss, disfigurement and nerve damage, sometimes needing medical or surgical care. RF microneedling is a medical procedure, not something to do at home.
We use Potenza, and your treatment is planned and performed by our trained skin team at both clinics, led by Arwa Salti, Founder and Lead Injector. FDA advises asking these exact questions before RF microneedling, so we answer them up front, along with how your tip is opened and how aftercare is handled.
How much does Potenza RF microneedling cost in Portland?
Potenza at Cosmetiq Medicine is $650 for the face, $975 for the face and neck, $750 for the abdomen, and $325 to add the décolleté. A series of three is recommended, and booking three includes a free add-on at each visit. Payment plans, CareCredit, Allē and Cherry, and memberships can help spread the cost.
How many Potenza sessions will I need?
Most plans start with a series of three sessions spaced about four to six weeks apart. Deeper acne scarring or looser skin may need more, and many people return for maintenance once or twice a year. Your provider sets the number at your consultation, based on your skin and goals.
Is Potenza the same as regular microneedling?
No. Standard microneedling uses fine needles alone. Potenza adds radiofrequency energy released through the needles, creating heat below the surface, so it works differently and carries different risks. We offer both at our Portland and Vancouver clinics and help you choose based on your skin and goals.
Does Potenza hurt?
Numbing cream goes on for about 30 to 45 minutes first, and most people describe warmth and pressure rather than sharp pain. Bony areas such as the forehead and jawline can feel stronger. Tell us about any allergy to numbing medicines so we can plan around it.
What will my skin look like after RF microneedling?
Expect redness, warmth and mild swelling at first, sometimes with small grid marks, dryness or light peeling. FDA notes these common effects typically settle without treatment within days or weeks. Plan gentle skin care and sun protection, and ask us about timing before a big event.
When will I see results from Potenza?
Change builds gradually as skin remodels. The device maker reports first results at four to six weeks and fuller results around twelve weeks after a series of three. Results vary, improvement may be temporary, and occasional maintenance sessions help keep what you gain.
Is Potenza suitable for darker skin?
It is often considered for a range of skin tones because the energy is delivered below the surface, but pigment changes can still happen. FDA lists darker skin types among those with a risk of darkening or lightening after microneedling. We screen carefully, set energy conservatively and may suggest a test area.
Is Potenza FDA approved?
Potenza is FDA-cleared through the 510(k) process rather than approved. Its cleared use is electrocoagulation and hemostasis in dermatologic and general surgical procedures. Using it for texture, firmness or the look of acne scars is off-label, which your provider explains at your consultation.
What are the risks of RF microneedling?
Common effects include redness, swelling, bruising, dryness and peeling. Less often, pigment changes, cold sore flares or infection occur. In October 2025, FDA reported rare serious complications with some RF microneedling uses, including burns, scarring, fat loss, disfigurement and nerve damage. We review all of this with you first.
Can I add exosomes or other boosters to Potenza?
Our menu offers optional add-ons: PDRN, salmon DNA (PN), exosome, growth factor or hyaluronic acid at $75, Rejuran or a tone up booster at $100, and an infusion tip at $125. FDA has not cleared any microneedling device for use with another product, so these are off-label choices we explain first.
Does Potenza melt fat or treat a double chin?
No. Potenza is not a fat-reduction treatment, and FDA lists fat loss among the rare serious complications reported with RF microneedling. If fullness under the chin is your concern, ask about Kybella, which is FDA-approved for fullness from fat under the chin in adults.
Do you offer Potenza in Vancouver, WA?
Yes. Potenza RF microneedling is offered at both clinics, 10735 SE Stark St, Suite 206 in Portland and 12000 SE Mill Plain Blvd in Vancouver, WA, at the same menu prices. Book online for either clinic or call (503) 572-2675.
