What is the difference between Botox and Dysport?
Both are botulinum toxin type A injections that relax the muscles behind expression lines. They are separate prescription products with their own formulas, labels and dosing units, so a unit of one never equals a unit of the other. Results typically last three to four months with either. We carry both in Portland and Vancouver.

How we choose for you
Your injector looks at the size and strength of the muscles involved, how you responded to any past treatment and the areas you want to soften. If one brand seems to wear off early for you, trying the other at your next visit is a reasonable step to talk through.
How much does Botox cost in Portland?
Botox at Cosmetiq Medicine is $12 per unit and Dysport is $4 per unit. Glow members pay $11 and $3.70, and Elite members pay $10 and $3.40. Your total depends on how many units your muscles need for the areas you treat, and your injector confirms the units and the total before anything is prepared.
Spread the cost with monthly payment plans, CareCredit or Allē rewards and Cherry. See current specials.

Units vary by treatment area. Botox and Dysport are dosed in different units that don't convert one to one, so compare the total cost of a treatment, not the unit price. Prices subject to change.

This photo shows frown lines between the brows before and after treatment. Typical results soften the lines you make when you frown, squint or raise your brows while keeping natural expression. Deep lines that stay creased at rest often soften without fully disappearing.

Do my lines need Botox or filler?
Botox and Dysport relax the muscles that crease your skin when you move. Fillers restore volume that has thinned or flattened. Many people in Portland need a little of both, so we look at what is causing each line before recommending Botox, filler, a skin treatment or a combination.

Who does Botox at Cosmetiq Medicine?
Arwa Salti
Founder and Lead InjectorArwa founded Cosmetiq Medicine and leads its injectables in Portland and Vancouver. Her first visits start with your face in motion: how high your brows lift, where you squint, how your smile pulls.
Start measured. Plan with you. Confirm the total first.
- Measured first doses. Adding a few units later is simple. Taking back movement you wanted to keep is not.
- Both brands in the room. The recommendation follows your anatomy and history.
- Plain answers. If a neuromodulator is not the right fit for a line, you hear it at the assessment.

What are the side effects of Botox, and who should not get it?
Most side effects are mild and short-lived, such as tenderness, swelling or bruising where the needle went in, or a headache. Rarely, the toxin can affect nearby muscles, such as a heavy brow or drooping eyelid. All treatments carry risks; we review yours, and whether you should wait, at your assessment.
Common and expected
- Redness, tenderness or small bumps at injection points
- Light bruising
- Headache
- Temporary heaviness of the brow or eyelid, or an uneven look while it settles
Rare but important
The FDA boxed warning describes the toxin's effect spreading beyond the injection area, hours to weeks later. Get medical care right away for trouble swallowing, speaking or breathing, loss of strength or blurred or double vision.

Botox in Portland: your questions answered
Straight answers to what people ask us most before a first visit. For anything specific to your face, the assessment is where we get precise.
How much does Botox cost in Portland?
Botox at Cosmetiq Medicine is $12 per unit and Dysport is $4 per unit, with member rates of $11 and $3.70 for Glow and $10 and $3.40 for Elite. Your total depends on how many units the muscles in your chosen areas need, and your injector confirms the units and the total before treatment, in Portland or Vancouver.
How many units of Botox will I need?
It depends on the area, the strength of your muscles and the look you want. A small area such as a lip flip uses far fewer units than the full upper face. Your injector maps your movement at the assessment and tells you the units and the total before anything is prepared, so there are no surprises.
How long does Botox last?
Results from Botox or Dysport typically last three to four months, then movement returns gradually. How long yours lasts depends on the area treated, the dose and your own metabolism. Many people book their next visit when they notice lines starting to return rather than waiting for full movement.
How soon does Botox start working?
Most people notice lines starting to soften within about a week, and the full effect settles at around two weeks. If you are planning for a wedding, photos or an event, book at least two weeks ahead so you are seen at the full result.
Is Botox or Dysport better?
Neither is better for everyone. Both are botulinum toxin type A products that relax the muscles behind expression lines, with their own formulas and dosing units that do not convert. We carry both in Portland and Vancouver and recommend one based on your muscles, your history and the areas you want to treat.
Is masseter Botox FDA-approved?
No. Botox Cosmetic is FDA-approved for frown lines, crow's feet, forehead lines and vertical neck bands. Treating the masseter, the jaw muscle, to slim a square-looking jawline is an off-label use. If you are interested, your provider reviews the evidence, the risks and your alternatives with you at your assessment.
What is a Botox lip flip?
A lip flip uses a few units of toxin along the upper lip so the muscle relaxes and the lip rolls out slightly, showing a little more of the pink. It adds no volume, which is the job of lip filler. A lip flip is an off-label use that your provider discusses with you first.
What should I avoid after Botox?
Your written aftercare usually asks you to stay upright for a few hours, avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas and skip strenuous exercise for the rest of the day. Bring any question to us by phone rather than waiting. Follow the sheet you are given, since instructions can vary by area.
Who should not get Botox?
Let us know first if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a neuromuscular condition, have an infection where you want treatment, have reacted to a toxin before or take certain medicines, including some antibiotics. These can mean waiting or choosing another option. Suitability is assessed at your consultation.
Do you offer Botox in Vancouver, WA?
Yes. Botox and Dysport are offered at both clinics: SE Stark Street in East Portland and SE Mill Plain Boulevard in Vancouver, Washington. Book online for either location, or call (503) 572-2675 and we will help you pick the time and place that suit you.
