Sculptra

What is Sculptra ® Aesthetic?
Sculptra® Aesthetic is a unique FDA approved long lasting collagen stimulating dermal filler made of a biodegradable and biocompatible synthetic polymer, called Poly-L-Lactic acid (PLLA).

Sculptra® is specifically designed to work deep within the dermis by stimulating your natural ability to produce collagen to restore the structure of your skin and the lost volume. The body gradually and naturally absorbs the PLLA filler revitalizing elasticity as new collagen is created, and over time bringing subtle youthful volume to reinforce areas of the face where prominent wrinkles, sagging, hollowing, or flattening of skin appear. Sculptra® also tighten the skin and improves its appearance. It provides a strong and healthy structure to the skin that lasts up to 2 years.

Is Sculptra ® Aesthetic right for me?
The ideal candidate for Sculptra® Aesthetic, is someone with a healthy immune system who is looking to improve mild to moderate facial wrinkles and restore fullness without an “overdone” look. Sculptra® works over time and takes several months to reach desired results. As the natural production of collagen is increased, the skin’s texture, complexion and appearance improve. The process of rebuilding back volume takes more time, but over time is more cost effective with longer lasting, natural-looking results.

Injected Areas

What should I expect?
Initially your free consultation will include identifying your target goals and creating a plan for your treatment. Areas to focus on include flat and sunken cheeks, nasolabial folds, sunken temples, thin chin, and boney jawlines.  Sculptra® requires multiple treatments.  The first treatment will give you an idea of the fullness that will follow after 6 to 12 months as your skin is making collagen.  The fullness you see right after the treatment reflects the volume of water used to reconstitute the Sculptra®.

Sculptra®vial comes in powder, it should be reconstituted with sterile water prior your visit. A small amount of lodociane (numbing) is added at the time of injection to make the injection more tolerable. Clients can return to their daily activities, with no downtime. You may experience mild bruising, redness slight swelling, and itching at the injection site. These side effects usually resolve within a few days.

Sculptra® initial dose is one vial per 10 years of age. for instance, if you’re in your 40’s, you’re initial dose will be 4 vials. If you are in your 60’s, you’re initial dose is 6 vials. The treatments should be spaced 4-6 weeks a part.  The maximum you can get in the face is 2 vials in one treatment. After you complete your initial dose, you will need one vial a year to maintain the collagen you built as we keep loosing collagen with aging.  After the treatment, you need to massage the treated areas for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days. Massaging your skin and icing after injections will decrease lumping, while ensuring even distribution of the filler throughout the targeted areas.

Before treatment, avoid use of agents that can thin the blood such as Aleve, Ibuprofen, Aspirin, red wine/alcohol or alcohol, as these agents can increase bruising.
