Scope

No provider and patient relationship

A provider and patient relationship with Cosmetiq Medicine is formed only through an in-person consultation and evaluation at one of our clinics. It is not formed by any of the following:

• Reading a treatment page, guide or article on this website
• Submitting a consultation request or contact form
• Using our photo treatment planner or receiving its suggestions
• Exchanging messages with our team by email or text before your first visit
• Viewing a before and after photograph, review or testimonial

Until you have been evaluated in person, we do not know your health history, your medications, your skin or your anatomy, and nothing we publish should be read as advice about your individual situation.

Outcomes

Results vary, and no outcome is guaranteed

Aesthetic and wellness outcomes depend on factors that differ from person to person, including your anatomy, skin quality and thickness, age, health history, medications, hormones, lifestyle, the product or device used, the number of sessions you complete and how closely you follow aftercare.

No provider can guarantee a specific result, and we do not. Some people respond faster than others. Some need more sessions than the typical range. Some are not candidates for a treatment at all, and we will tell you when that is the case rather than treat you anyway.

Before and after photographs

Photographs published on this website are our own clients, shared with written permission, photographed at matched angles and lighting and not retouched. They show what a treatment achieved for that individual. They are not a representation of what it will achieve for you. Where a photograph is labeled with a time point, such as two weeks or six months after treatment, that label describes when the photograph was taken, not when your own result would appear. Our gallery explains how each category is photographed.

Reviews and testimonials

Reviews and testimonials reflect the personal experience of the individual who wrote them and are not typical of every client. We do not edit reviews, and we do not offer anything of value in exchange for a positive review. The Federal Trade Commission publishes guidance on how endorsements and testimonials should be presented, available through its endorsement guides.

Timeframes and ranges

Where we publish a typical range, such as how long a result lasts or how many sessions are usually needed, that range describes what is commonly reported. Your own experience may fall outside it, and your provider will give you a range specific to your plan at consultation.

Safety

Every treatment carries risk

Injectables, energy-based devices, peels and medical weight loss programs all carry risk, including reactions at the treatment site, bruising, swelling, asymmetry, infection, pigment change, scarring and, rarely, more serious complications. Risk is reduced by proper screening and technique. It is never eliminated.

Before any treatment you will receive information about its specific risks, benefits, alternatives and expected recovery, and you will be asked to sign a consent form for that treatment. The information on this website does not replace that process and is not a substitute for reading and understanding your consent form.

Tell us about your health

Certain conditions, medications, allergies and circumstances make a treatment unsafe or inadvisable, including pregnancy and breastfeeding, active infection in the treatment area, certain autoimmune and neuromuscular conditions, some implanted devices, and interactions with medications you take. Give us a complete and accurate history. Withholding information puts you at risk, and we may decline or discontinue a treatment if we cannot assess safety.

Regulatory

Devices, products and how we describe them

Clearance is not approval

Medical devices and drugs reach the United States market through different regulatory pathways, and the words are not interchangeable. Most aesthetic energy devices are cleared through a premarket notification process for a specific stated use. Drugs and some devices are approved after a different review. We use the accurate word for each product rather than the more impressive one. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration explains the difference in its guidance on device approvals, denials and clearances.

Where we describe what a device does in practice, we say so plainly. An example is on our XERF cost and results guide, which states the cleared indication alongside the effect the treatment is used for.

Uses outside the labeled indication

Some treatments commonly performed in aesthetic medicine use a product in an area or manner that differs from its labeled indication. This is lawful, is common across the specialty and is often supported by published experience, but it is not the same as an approved indication. Where a treatment we recommend falls outside the labeled use, your provider will tell you at consultation and it will be reflected in your consent form.

Brand names

Product and device names mentioned on this website are the trademarks of their owners. Naming a product describes what we use. It is not a claim of endorsement by, affiliation with or sponsorship from the manufacturer.

Online tools

Our treatment planner and other tools

Our photo treatment planner suggests categories of treatment that commonly address the concern you describe or upload. It is a starting point for a conversation.

• It does not diagnose anything. It cannot identify a skin condition, a lesion or any medical problem, and it is not a screening tool for skin cancer or any other disease.
• It does not assess candidacy. It does not know your health history, medications or anatomy.
• It does not price your treatment. Any figure shown is a published range, not a quote.
• Its suggestions are confirmed or corrected in person. A provider may recommend something entirely different, or advise against treatment.

If you notice a mole, lesion or skin change that concerns you, see a dermatologist or your primary care provider. Do not rely on an online tool, ours or anyone else's, to judge whether a skin change is serious.

Our content

How our content is written and kept current

Our treatment guides are written in-house and reviewed by our clinical team before publication. Where we cite a figure, a study or a regulatory fact, we link to the source so you can read it yourself.

Medical information changes. A guide accurate when published may be out of date later as new products reach the market, evidence develops or regulatory status changes. We date our pages and revise them as needed, and we encourage you to confirm anything time-sensitive with your provider at consultation. If you spot something that looks wrong, tell us and we will check it.

Links to other websites

We link to sources we do not control, including government agencies, medical references, manufacturers and news organizations. We link to them because they are useful, not because we endorse everything they publish, and we are not responsible for their content or accuracy.

Not a comparison of providers

Where we describe how treatments compare, we are comparing treatments rather than ranking clinics. We encourage you to compare providers, ask the same questions of each, and choose on the answers rather than on marketing.
